Caregivers (including for hospital after care)
A Caregiver provides a personalised service assisting the frail, disabled and/or family member in the comfort and privacy of their own home. They assist in every possible way for the care of the member.
All Caregivers have completed a home base caring course. They all have experience in working as a carer.
In the modern world today hospital patients are discharged as soon as possible. We provide hospital after care in the clients own home where recovery is often needed by being in a familiar environment.
Duties of a Caregiver:
- Care of the patient in general
- Transport and Mobility – assistance with daily activities and mobility support and helping around the house
- Transferring and positioning – help to change and correct the posture of a patient, avoiding health problems such as bedsores
- Exercise routines – it is vital for a healthy lifestyle because it enhances and maintains physical fitness, mental, and overall health
- Grooming and dressing
- Bathing and toileting
- Incontinence care – understanding the sensitivity of the problem. The caregiver can handle the situation professionally and compassionately.
- Medication reminders
- Emergency monitoring
- Communication assistance
- Meal preparations – basic level cooking
- Light household keeping – managing the home chores such as cleaning, tidying of rooms and bathrooms, making beds, vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, doing the dishes and laundry duties
- Pet care (if needed)
- Shopping
- Recreational activities and outings
Companionship
Companions give clients the freedom to live independently, to plan their own schedules around their needs, to relax and enjoy life knowing that their health and well being is being taken care of.
Companions provide for social interactions which help to alleviate loneliness.
Companions can accompany clients to appointments, visits with friends, on walks, to the movies and shops and can also read to clients and play board games with them.
Whatever a client feels like doing, a companion can provide for, unlike in an assisted living facility where a patient needs to follow the facilities routines.
